Turkish Airlines flies from Melbourne and Sydney to Istanbul with one stop in Singapore, using its own plane the whole way. Australia is on Turkish Airlines' "weight" baggage system, not the "piece" system used for the Americas. That means your Economy checked bag allowance is a total weight, not a set number of bags. Different sources give slightly different Economy numbers, from 20 kg to 30 kg, so check the exact figure on your own ticket or on the Turkish Airlines website before you fly.
What's new: from 26 October 2026, the Sydney flight stops in Singapore instead of Kuala Lumpur. This matches how Melbourne already flies. Both cities now stop in Singapore on the same Airbus A350 plane. This is just a change of stopover city - your baggage allowance and check-in stay the same, since it is still one flight number all the way through. Turkish Airlines also plans a future nonstop flight from Istanbul to Sydney, possibly by 2027, but that is not happening yet.
