Jetsetting Kids Blog – what was the motivation behind starting the blog

We were regular Jetsetters for business and personal adventures before kids came along and one day thought why should the fun stop just because we’ve had children – let’s bring them with us.

It didn’t take long for the reality of that to kick in – the first few trips with a baby were not exactly fun.

Not ones to give in easily, we got creative and adapted our routines, equipment and travel style to suit travelling with children. Things got easier, and we decided to share what we had learnt with friends and family on Instagram, and things just grew from there! These days we also share our adventures on our website and for travel publications. It’s a nice feeling to help other families to discover new destinations and gain the confidence to travel with kids.

What are your go-to travel gadgets?

A crossover hand-bag for hands-free parenting and four-wheel suitcases that can be grouped and pulled along together are an absolute must.

Favourite holiday destination and why?

Any holiday is a good holiday for us, but if pushed to list a favourite, we loved Orlando, Florida. We hit the theme parks hard, chilled out in over the top resorts and got our beach fix by tagging on a Caribbean cruise directly from Port Canaveral.  We stayed for 2.5 weeks but could have easily spent three months at this very family friendly destination!

Tips for travelling with kids

Preparation is key. Arm yourself with the essentials but don’t go too over the top with your packing. You can always find somewhere to do the washing, pick up more snacks or activities for the kids… and nappies are something you can buy anywhere.

Where was your last family holiday?

We are a Brisbane based family and love our home State of Queensland.  We have swapped the big overseas trips lately for more frequent, shorter getaways locally to recharge the batteries. Our last stay was in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.  We enjoyed beautiful Queensland weather at an absolute beachfront property – it was bliss.

Most important item in your suitcase?

Packing cubes. They keep everyone’s gear together and make the job of packing and unpacking so much easier. When we get to our destination – we take the packing cube out and put it straight into the drawer. Reverse that for packing up to come home, and you’ll see that it’s an effortless way to holiday with kids.

What comes to mind when we mention TOSCA

A long-standing reputation for reliable, quality travel gear. TOSCA’s locks, in particular, are always on every zip of our suitcases and we always pack extras with us on a trip.

What’s next on the Holiday agenda?

We are planning something fun but a surprise for the September school holidays which also happens to be the month that I turn the big 4-0! I can’t wait to share more of the details soon!
